Impossibillions

Imagine sticking your fingers on your pulse
and thanking God every time
He gave you another blood-driving, brain-powering thump.
We should.
And we shouldn’t,
because if we did,
we would never do anything else with our living;
we wouldn’t have the time to look at or savor
any of the other of our impossibillions of gifts.

  1. God is so good to us! He bestows so many gifts upon us daily and we hardly notice some of them!

  2. Nate Wilson makes me contemplate these things like almost nobody else. Both in “Tilt-a-Whirl” and in “Death By Living.” Especially when I think of snowflakes. They are each gorgeous masterpieces on a microscopic scale, and we smash them, shovel them, dogs pee on them, children eat them… and perhaps nobody sees the majority of their beauty ~ yet God delights to make them again and again with such precise glory that we can not begin to understand why He does it or how or even think about what GIFTS they are.

  3. I must look into those books!! Snowflakes truly are marvelous; they are microscopic but beautifully created by the hand of our Heavenly Father!
