Why, Lord? You Know.

I wanted to sharing a little something that made me cry in understanding from yesterday’s entry in my daily reading of Streams In The Desert:

Why must I weep while others sing?
To test the deeps of suffering.

Why must I work while others rest?
To spend my days at God’s request.

Why must I lose while others gain?
To understand defeat’s sharp pain.

Why must this lot in life be mine?
When that which fairer seems is thine.

Because God knows what plans for me
Will blossom in eternity.

  1. Hmm, this really touched me today. I always hesitate to ask “why?” Although I know He is using it all for my good…for someday. Thanks for sharing!

    On another note…of books.
A book we and some of my friends have been reading that has also really touched me in a profound way….making me weep and laugh and well, the author just has a way with words.

The book is called One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp, you may enjoy it.

  2. Jaclynn… I am almost done with that book. A dear friend of mine sent it to me not long ago, and I read chunks of it during quiet moments when I too am searching for eucharisteo in everything. You’re right that I would like it. 🙂

  3. Thanks for sharing this… It was such a blessing to my heart when I had read this as well! Hugs! 🙂
